Jim Stevens - Senior Consultant / Co-founder

Jim Stevens Jim Stevens, Senior Consultant / Co-founder has 30 years of combined expertise in performance consulting, organizational development, team building, and managing large-scale learning organizations. He has a proven track record of designing and delivering solutions that improve business results, productivity, and managed organizational change. Jim has built performance-based teams and curricula globally as well as having facilitated hundreds of successful workshops in the US and internationally.

Prior to re-joining PDII in 2005, Jim was Senior Vice-President and head of Business of Risk at Marsh & McLennan Companies (Marsh). In this role, he was responsible for technical insurance training for the firm’s brokers and for key organizational development, performance consulting, and global e-learning projects. Earlier in his five-year career at Marsh, Jim was Managing Consultant for Marsh Risk Consulting. He headed the team that designed and developed the consulting model, processes, and certification of consultants for the newly-formed Risk Consulting unit.

While at PDII in the 1990s, Jim worked extensively on the implementation of high-performance team methodology and associated managing change projects for a major apparel organization. This very effective effort occurred over a six-year period in over 50 plants in 9 countries.

Prior to PDII, Jim co-owned the Human Resources Group consulting firm for 12 years. He created a wide variety of innovative products and successfully implemented them in numerous Fortune 500 firms and governmental organizations. Clients included NASA, Bechtel, BellSouth, Eli Lilly, Merck Sharp & Dohme, 3M, United Banks of Colorado, AT&T, and Honeywell.

Earlier, Jim was a key consultant at Sterling Institute, heading their client services for four years. During this time, he had extensive experience in working with senior managers and providing feedback concerning their management practices. Developing and implementing performance management systems for Fortune 500 firms was another area of Jim’s work while at the Institute.

Jim began his career at BF Goodrich and was a strategic member of the team that created the Institute for Personnel Development (IPD) for Goodrich managers and employees worldwide. He played a key role in developing the IPD curriculum and related human resource integration. Included in this effort was the development of Assessment Centers, performance management systems, and individual plans for managers and executives.

Jim received his doctorate in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University and his MA and B.Sc. degrees from Oregon State University.
